southern-themed party fun

This past weekend, I hosted a southern-themed party.   Meaning? Sweet Tea, Mac & Cheese, Blues & Jazz, Southern Comfort- all that fun stuff!  It was a really good time.

I made sweet potato pie tarts, and pecan tarts- Wow, they were both great (if I do say so myself).  In pre-made tart shells, of course. I`m not Julia Child…

DSC_7768For the pulled pork, I used pork shoulder and the Club House Slow Cooker Pulled Pork mix.  You just throw the packet of spices, plus 1/2 cup each of ketchup and brown sugar, and 1/3 of a cup of cider vinegar along about a kilo of meat into your slow cooker, or in my case, my oven.  I cooked it for about 7 hours at about 275 degrees F ( though I did crank it up at the end.) until a meat thermometer in the thickest part of the meat hit 170 degrees F.   So yummy!

I’m from the South, so this post made me unbelievably happy & a tad homesick!

  2. […] it wasn`t the most exciting weekend, but that meant that it was a relaxing one.  After throwing a party last weekend, it was nice to take it easy, relax & drink some maple syrup.  What did you do […]
